When your disc blades start looking more like smooth wheels than cutting tools, you’ve got work piling up and efficiency going downhill. This 24-inch notched disc blade brings aggressive cutting action back to your harrow, turning tough corn stalks and matted residue into properly sized pieces that’ll break down instead of hair-pinning around your planter next spring.
What You’re Getting
- Aggressive notched edge that creates a scissor action, slicing through tough stalks other blades just bend over
- Quality Boron 15B26 steel with 46-52 Rockwell hardness that holds an edge through acres of tough tillage without being too brittle
- Heavy 1/4-inch thickness provides the beef needed for long service life, while 2.80-inch concavity creates aggressive soil-throwing action
- Combo hole design accommodates both square and round axle configurations for versatile mounting options
Built for Real Farm Work
Your disc harrow needs to do more than just roll over crop residue – it needs to cut, size, and mix that material into the soil profile. In high-residue conditions like continuous corn or after cover crops, that notched edge makes the difference between effective residue management and a plugged-up mess that forces you to make extra passes.
Made to Last
Osmundson doesn’t mess around with blade materials – just quality steel that works. The 1/4-inch thickness provides the beef needed for long service life, and the perfect hardness range means it’s hard enough to hold an edge but not so brittle it shatters when you clip that hidden field stone.
Installation Notes
Never mix worn and new blades on the same gang – the diameter difference creates uneven cutting that leaves mohawk strips. Check your spool spacing while gangs are apart; notched blades can require slightly different spacing than smooth blades for optimal performance. Field-proven tip: notched blades excel in heavy residue but can be too aggressive in light soils, so many operators run notched on front gangs for cutting, smooth on rear for finishing.
